Get ready Brownies to become a Girl Scout Ranger! This partnership program with the National Park Service will provide an opportunity for girls to earn their Girl Scout Ranger badge, a patch that requires Girl Scouts to participate in organized educational activities for a minimum of ten hours at a national park.  Girls will stay overnight at Camp Brookside Environmental Education Center at New River Gorge National River, where they will participate in science based activities to learn about the park and its natural resources. They will also have an opportunity to earn the Space Science Investigator badge and the Night Sky Explorer Junior Ranger patch.

NOTE 

Brownies must attend in proper troop ratio. Adults must be current members and have a successful background check on file with Black Diamond Council.

All funds collected for the event are to assist with the purchase of badges. The National Park Service is hosting the event at no cost! This is a great opportunity to get outdoors and explore with Brownies. Adults must be current members and have a successful background check on file with Black Diamond Council.

Please bring a bagged lunch for Saturday. Nut products are prohibited due to allergies. Bring a reusable water bottle. Breakfast and dinner will be provided during the event. However, if your Girl Scout has a special diet, please bring necessary supplemental foods. 

This event will be held rain or shine, so please dress accordingly for the weather. 

Troop leaders are responsible for bringing permission slips, emergency contact information, health history and photo release forms.

Cancellation Policy
Events run rain or shine unless GSBDC determines that inclement weather would adversely affect a program. In those cases, participants will be notified of cancellation or rescheduling. If GSBDC cancels the event for weather or any other reason (such as not meeting capacity), participants will receive a complete refund using the same method by which payment was made. If a participant wishes to cancel, cancellation and refund requests must be made in writing via email to customercare@bdgsc.org at least 3 weeks prior to the event. (If a refund is issued, a 10% administrative fee will be retained.) Refunds for family emergency or medical reasons will only be processed if notification is made before the event and is followed up within two weeks by a written refund request. Refunds won't be issued for no-shows.
